Square Rebuild title.png

This is a project that is in the early stages of development with multiple stakeholders in Christchurch ÅŒtautahi. The finished 3D model (Sketchup + Unreal Engine) will be available to filmmakers, Game Developers, Architects, Educational Faculties and indeed even the wider public as facilitated by the ChCh Libraries and also quite possibly the Museum.

The renders you see here - the handiwork of key project partner Paul Densem (Teaspoon Films) - are our first WIPs combining some fully modelled buildings and some more basic blocky models. We have not yet completed aging and wear and tear texture mapping nor applied any post rendering filters - all of which will allow us to achieve a much more realistic and cinematic output. Watch this space!

“As the regional film office, we are the door way to enquiries from both national and international producers looking to film in Canterbury and
we take great pride in sharing images of our stunning locations. With this AR / VR project we have the power to rebuild not just a city but
also to bring history back to life. This technique transforms storytelling, enabling directors to visualise impossible scenes which traditional film
techniques cannot achieve. So we are excited to have such an asset to offer creators who are working on stories based in Christchurch. I doubt any other film office in NZ offers this service. We will be the first!.”
